Private Sessions for Energy Healing Massage & Shirodhara

I am now allowed to reopen the studio for in-person sessions without medical or chiropractor referral. It is easy-open, which means I will give a good amount of time between clients to sanitize the room and equipments. The number of clients that I will see during the week is also reduced for the time being.

I am excited to be able to work with you in person again!

Once you schedule your session directly with me (805)-728-5573, I will confirm your appointment the day before and ask you the same questions (Covid questions) as if you were going to the doctor’s office. Rest assured that I will answer the same questions for your peace of mind. The responsibility lies with both ends.

Sessions are 60 mins long (investment in your health $110) or 90 mins (investment in your health $143) only, no 120 mins sessions are offered at this time. The payments accepted at the moment are cash or Venmo.

I am super excited to introduce you to the newest treatment at the studio: SHIRODHARA. Send me a message for more information or schedule your session.

Shirodhara (shiro-dar-a)-( shira = head and dhara = flow) is a unique, blissful Ayurvedic therapy that balances and stabilizes the mind. To receive Shirodhara, the client lies down on the massage table with their eyes covered. Next, specially prepared warm herbal oil (Shirodhara oils contain herbs such as ashwagandha, brahmi/gotu kola, and bhringaraj; Banyan’s Shirodhara Oil -the one I use at the sessions is a nice blend of these herbs and also includes shatavari and skullcap) is poured in a thin steady stream directly onto the forehead and sixth chakra. The purpose of shirodhara is to calm the nervous system.

The oil is warm and the flow steady. You get a good scalp massage too!

To maintain the sense of peace, avoid electronics for at least three hours after your treatment. If you can wait, wash your hair the next day, making sure you cover your pillow with a towel before you go to bed. When you do wash your hair, apply shampoo to your oily head before wetting it, working it thoroughly in. You may need to reapply shampoo a number of times before the oil is completely removed.

Shirodhara can also awaken the third eye, release old memories, and bring deep inner focus. Like most Ayurvedic treatments, Shirodhara is designed to reset the body’s natural healing mechanisms. People often say that they feel as if they are in a waking meditative state, the effects of which can continue for weeks.

I continue to offer Qigong classes, Guided Meditation for Grounding, Finding the Magic Within (mindfulness and meditation for children) and TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique- to release trauma and reduce stress). The TAT group meets every Friday at 6:30 pm and the meeting lasts about 45 mins.

If you would like to participate in classes please, send me a message and I will send you the zoom link. There will be Webinars coming up (hopefully starting at the end of March) for opening up meridians, chakras and learning energy techniques to release stress and specific symptoms, stay tuned!

Much love to you,

Waiting for your visit!

This past week we tried the first tentative schedule for the month of January. I will keep it as it is for now and hope that more of you can join the classes! Please, reach out to me if you would like to join but you have a conflict in your schedule. I will do my best to accommodate new classes.

I intend, in the next few weeks, to add a class for healing and strengthening the liver and heart meridians. This is very important, especially nowadays, as the energies of the world outside are carried with anger, frustration and hatred. Energies that directly affect (the outside magnifies the inside) the liver and heart. Anger and hatred, if not addressed on an energetic level can truly cause havoc to the physical body.

According to Tradicional Chinese Medicine, if there is a blockage in any energy channel of your body, this blockage can grow bigger and eventually make the body sick. “The physical body has intelligence for healing itself because it was designed that way. The 5 Element Healing Movements can activate this intelligence.” Master Chunyi Lin -founder of Spring Forest QiGong.

Let’s keep taking care of ourselves at an energetic level, so our physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies’ health can keep improving.

This past Friday I offered an introductory free session on TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) to release trauma, PTSD, and heavy emotions. I will keep offering this session throughout the month of January (Fridays @ 6:30 pm) and the fee will be $15/ session/per person. Also, I continue to offer individual virtual healing sessions (Qigong healing and other techniques might be used).  Please, contact me if you want to get more info about it.

You can let me know via email ( or text (805-728-5573) if you would like to participate in the classes so I can send you the link to zoom.

“Energy moves in waves. Waves move in patterns. Patterns move in rhytms. The rhytms gave me a way to map the movements of my own psyche as well as the ever-changing state of the universe.” Gabrielle Roth ( Sweat your Prayers: Movement as Spiritual Practice)

Much love, and let’s keep moving and breathing consciously, praying and taking care of one another.

Hijacked Brains

It’s no news to any of us that our country and our world are suffering from an epidemic of sick brains.

Our brains haven’t been able to slow down, to think clearly, to ponder before making decisions, to remember simple tasks and even to rest. What happened ? Anxiety, Depression, Addictions… Mental Health Issues are growing exponentially over the past years.

Several years ago, during my training to become and Energy Healer I heard for the very first time about the “second brain” within our gut. I learned that our gut produces more serotonin(our happiness hormone) than our actual brain and there we also produce dopamine! So, if we really want to heal our brain, our emotions, balance our body chemistry, we must take care of our guts.

In a society where we have learned to microwave food to “save” us time, to eat highly processed foods, to raise animals as inhumanly as it can possibly be done (injecting hormones and all sorts of antibiotics in them…to later consume their flesh), to take short cuts to add nourishment to our bodies, it shouldn’t be any news that we are certainly paying the price for our choices. Unfortunately we are also victims of a world where we are as conditioned to do certain things and behave at a certain way, as our pets. Who hijacked our brains and our choices?

The answer is a bit complex, I believe, and I certainly don’t want to have the arrogance to say I have it, however I can offer you food for thought, so we can as a community, as humans with free will, strong determination and perseverance, take back our power to heal ourselves, our lives and the lives of our loved ones!

I remember when I lived in Brazil and was attending College (Business Administration) I was an assistant to professors who taught the nightly Extension Courses for Executives coming  from various high profile companies.

When Marketing was in the discussion, the question on how to bring customers to businesses was raised, of course. The professors explained how businesses (especially the food industry) had done profound studies on psychology of behavior, how to persuade customers through subliminal messages, though colors, sounds and speed of images that could create an “urge” to consume products advertised using the results found in these studies.

As smart human beings we want to believe we are, we know that this technique is used in any area we can possibly imagine nowadays, including the traditional health system. It has been using fear to convince us that we need certain medicines in order to be “saved” from the effects of diseases and many ailments that could be easily prevented by a balanced diet, regular exercises and meditation…and mind you: if we cared for the Earth, avoiding producing pollutants that are causing us so many of those diseases!

My intention with this blog is, as I said before in other posts,  to provoque thinking, to instigate questioning and getting us all out of our comfort zone. If we want real changes for us to live a healthier life, we ought to question the old ways of doing things.

Our crops and food system have been hijacked as well, by big corporations that spread harmful pesticides and chemicals in the food we eat. Naturally, overtime (some people don’t even need a long exposure to those dangerous chemicals to show symptoms) our bodies get sick. Knowing that Western Medicine doesn’t include Nutrition as a mandatory(or non mandatory) class for all those aspiring to be doctors, it can be very uncomfortable to ask doctors for help. How can a medical doctor help us fully and completely without knowing that food IS medicine as well? Please, don’t take me wrong, I am deeply grateful for Western doctors, my family and myself needed them countless times and had our well-being rescued because of their knowledge and expertise. Many doctors nowadays are incorporating holistic practices to their own practices and having great success and a much deeper impact in the lives of their patients. It won’t be much longer when we will see Western and Eastern medical practices integrated (one of my highest hopes in this life!).

So, our journey to take back our power to heal ourselves starts when we decide to question, when we decide that our lives are sacred(as are the lives of any human being on Earth) and we decide to learn all about our bodies. Learning about our family history, the diseases and silenced emotional traumas passed on generation after generation, the habits inherited, the prejudices and judgements passed on generation after generation will take us into a journey of profound self discovery.

What if the parts of us that are hurting, are sick, are lonely, are deprived were a byproduct of family history and the collective consciousness of the place we were born at, at that particular time?

What if at any given time brains have been always hijacked and deprived to be plugged in directly to Source(to the Divine, to God)? Maybe if each one of us learns how to truly take better care of ourselves and of others, we will be able to recover our brain health and life, achieve our full potential and  to love one another!

Much love, health and peace to all,

Maria Helena Anderson

Brain Health and Water

Nothing a human being does is done without the brain.
So in order to live a healthy life, it is important that we adopt habits that take into consideration the health of our brains.

I decided to write about the importance of water and the brain after observing firsthand my son’s amazing improvement with focus and relief of anxiety at school, after he began making a conscious effort to drink more water.

We were taught by a professional of brain integration that water facilitates the brain’s electrical energy for all the brain functions, including thoughts and memory processes. After taking this into account and adjusting his water drinking habits, we were pleased to see great changes in his mood and concentration…for the better!

After reading a lot of research on the subject, the conclusion that drinking water and brain function are integrally linked was evident. It was shocking to learn that even though we are a part of the world’ s population most privileged in access to clean and drinkable water, many of us also are chronically dehydrated. Drinking water is such an easy habit that just needs discipline for it to be established and integrated into our daily routine.

We also know through research that the lack of water to the brain can cause numerous symptoms including problems with focus, memory, dizziness, brain fatigue, brain fog, headaches, sleep issues, anger and depression, and that water is also critical for the brain’s production of hormones and neurotransmitters. Wouldn’t it be sufficient information to make us more aware of the importance of water to our health?

Naturally, the health of our brains depends on many other factors to mention in this article; however hydration plays a very important role when we talk about brain and well-being.

Because the brain does not store water, it depends on our daily intake of it to operate in optimal health.
The most wonderful thing about it is that we have the power to make our brains healthier and brighter.

Got water?
