Building an Energy Healing Tool Box

How are you doing? How is your family?

I truly hope you are finding healthy ways to cope with the challenges presented during these energy shifts on Earth. It continues to be critical that we devote time and energy to care for ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually, to better care for our family and our community.

As you might know, since March I have been seeing clients for in-person sessions. I have been quite busy and am very happy to return doing what I love. Doing what I love involves sharing with you, all that I have learned and continue to learn over the years: ancient wisdom in Energy Medicine.

HEAL YOURSELF, HEAL THE WORLD

The acceptance of what is happening in the world around us will require from ourselves great strength and resilience, so we can imprint that in our energy field. We are energy beings, and our vibration greatly affects those around us.

“When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience” Jaeda Dewalt

Starting in September I will see clients only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be days saved for classes, workshops, guided meditation, and sound baths. If you want to schedule your regular sessions, make sure to send me a message in advance as short notice requests will be difficult to accommodate.

I am glad to share that our studio will soon be carrying books and other items for sale, for the physical, spiritual, and emotional enrichment of our community.

September 7th will be our first gathering for a guided meditation for healing, and sound bath. There will be a limit of 6 people during the session, so if you would like to save your spot, please send me a message. It will be at 5:30 pm and would last about 45 mins.

There is much coming at the studion in the next few months, regardless of what is happening in the world outside, we will always find a way to connect with our community, and diligently share old and new techniques for your Healing Tool Box.

Today I will share with you a healing technique to open energy blockages in your head and torso. It will also help to relieve headaches, neck and shoulder pain: Use either hand to massage the area on both sides of C7 (Cervical vertebrae 7), which is the protruding bone toward the top of your spine at the height of the top of your shoulders. Squeeze the skin and hold it tightly for 3 seconds. Release the muscle and then hold it tightly again for 3 seconds and let go. Repeat the squeeze and release 9 times.

C7

“C7 is one of the most important energy points in your body. It connects your head and your torso and it is often the first area where energy flow gets constricted.” Master Chunyi Lin

Be well and I hope to see you soon!

Maria

Calibrating Ourselves- Changing Old Habits

Hope this message finds you well and in good health- physically, mentally and spiritually.

It has been a while since my last message to you as life keeps happening with great intensity for many of us. As some of you know I have reopened the studio for in-person individual sessions. I am contemplating the possibility of soon reopening for in-person classes and workshops.

Today I will share again a post I wrote 8 years ago and it seems to be very important in today’s world and at every step of the way in our lives:

All of us have heard numerous times the importance of taking care of our bodies and minds so we can live a healthier and longer life.
Why is it so hard to get started?

Maybe because the habits that we have created for so long, sometimes even from childhood, are so ingrained in us and seem incredibly difficult to change. The overwhelming thought of change repeatedly keeps us stuck where we are, added to the excuses for them.

What if…we took baby steps while being loving to ourselves?

Today we can decide to drink one more glass of water, or instead of having a cup of coffee midday, eat a handful of almonds and a piece of fruit for an energy boost. Or take a vow of silence one night a week when all electronics are turned off and put away. How about starting a 10 min walk around the block after dinner? How about mindful breathing?

In truth, the changes we can make to a healthier life will be guided by our internal settings that tell us on a regular basis exactly what we need. If we keep the automatic pilot off and stop accepting to live life like robots, with no sense of where we are, why we are there and where we are aiming to be, we will be able to touch the wise being that lives within us all.

Questioning habits and the role they play in our well-being is a wonderful way to start change for the better in our personal, familial and social lives. Integrating body, mind, and spirit is critical in this quest, especially because we have human bodies that feel to the core the physical and emotional pain as well as the mental tribulation.

A phoenix comes to new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor.

The phoenix is a symbol of rebirth, strength, hope, renewal, and progress…all possible to achieve when we look within and decide to transform ourselves into a better version of ourselves.

Art by Gabriel Strafacce (aka my son)

While it is easy for others to tell us what to do, it will be amazingly more powerful to silence all the noise and opinions from the world outside and calibrate our inner compass to this immensely abundant universe that lights up the path to follow…if we open our EYE. ☺

To schedule a session with me please send me a text or give me a call. I am not currently using Schedulicity for that purpose.

Come Practice Together!

It seems that the days are going by fast as we ride this new year, don’t you think?

How have you been taking care of yourself? Did you have a chance to take an inventory of your life and start adding new and positive commitments to your own personal growth (mentally, physically, energetically, and spiritually)?

Sometimes thinking of what we would love to add to our lives at the beginning of each new year seems easier compared to the actual steps and actions we might need to take to get to the vision of ourselves we have for the future. That’s why when we join a practice group, there is a greater chance of us really “sticking” with the plan! We feel more inspired and pushed to give a little more of ourselves than if we were to get started alone. That happens because of the increased energy around intention in a group.

I understand that maybe not all of our community practices at Corpo e Alma Healing might be your cup of tea. However, if you haven’t tried any of them yet, I encourage you to give it a chance. A group practice of any form of energy healing and meditation magnifies the energy in the matrix of all individuals that are practicing together. It can form an energy field, if you will, of protection, strength, healing, and above all, unconditional love.

5 Element Healing Movements – Spring Forest Qigong

I will keep sending you our schedule for classes and any new special workshop I might be offering. Keep an eye on your emails. In Feb I will do a workshop (about 2 hours) on the opening of the heart and liver meridians, with guided sound meditation (Jonathan Goldman) and sound bath. All classes are online via zoom. If you would like to join us, please text me or email me (maria@corpoealmahealing.com) so I can send you the link.

CLASSES & ONLINE SESSIONS

This past week we tried the first tentative schedule for the month of January. I will keep it as it is for now and hope that more of you can join the classes! Please, reach out to me if you would like to join but you have a conflict in your schedule. I will do my best to accommodate new classes.

I intend, in the next few weeks, to add a class for healing and strengthening the liver and heart meridians. This is very important, especially nowadays, as the energies of the world outside are carried with anger, frustration and hatred. Energies that directly affect (the outside magnifies the inside) the liver and heart. Anger and hatred, if not addressed on an energetic level can truly cause havoc to the physical body.

According to Tradicional Chinese Medicine, if there is a blockage in any energy channel of your body, this blockage can grow bigger and eventually make the body sick. “The physical body has intelligence for healing itself because it was designed that way. The 5 Element Healing Movements can activate this intelligence.” Master Chunyi Lin -founder of Spring Forest QiGong.

Let’s keep taking care of ourselves at an energetic level, so our physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies’ health can keep improving.

This past Friday I offered an introductory free session on TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) to release trauma, PTSD, and heavy emotions. I will keep offering this session throughout the month of January (Fridays @ 6:30 pm) and the fee will be $15/ session/per person. Also, I continue to offer individual virtual healing sessions (Qigong healing and other techniques might be used).  Please, contact me if you want to get more info about it.

You can let me know via email (maria@corpoealmahealing.com) or text (805-728-5573) if you would like to participate in the classes so I can send you the link to zoom.

“Energy moves in waves. Waves move in patterns. Patterns move in rhytms. The rhytms gave me a way to map the movements of my own psyche as well as the ever-changing state of the universe.” Gabrielle Roth ( Sweat your Prayers: Movement as Spiritual Practice)

Much love, and let’s keep moving and breathing consciously, praying and taking care of one another.

Happy Holidays

This year of 2020 will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most challenging years for humankind in the modern era. A year when humans had to stop, rethink their way of living, their way of treating each other, their way of treating themselves, their way of treating the Earth. Some of us pondered, for the very first time, about unhealthy patterns in families, in communities, in societies, in countries. Wounds became more apparent and truly painful for many. There is a great read about that “Feelings buried alive never die…” by Karol K. Truman. And for so many of us on Earth the grief and sorrow have been really profound.

“…when you change your life, it isn’t to become the new you. It’s to become the real you- the one-of-a-kind diamond that will never exist again and can never be replaced. Everything that’s happened to you-all the choices you’ve made until now, all the ways you’ve tried to cope-it all matters; it’s all useful. You don’t have to throw everything out and start from scratch. Whatever you’ve done, it’s brought you this far, to this moment. The ultimate key to freedom is to keep becoming who you truly are.”  The Gift -12 Lessons to Save Your Life, by Edith Eger (a holocaust survivor).

The Age of Aquarius has begun! Let’s make 2021 the year we truly embrace with courage, determination, and strength all the challenges that may come our way! Let’s spread unconditional love and heal!

May the challenges be few, may our courage be as strong as never before, and may we keep reaching out to the tools from our toolbox: Qigong, meditation, prayer, mindful breathing, walking in nature, yoga, eating healthy, volunteering (whenever possible), TAT, and keep strengthening our inner energy.

I intend to be more present within our community offering more online classes, sound baths (I have the studio better equipped with professional microphones, lights, and incredible new crystal singing bowls that can make you transcend this world!) and private online sessions for Qigong healing and TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) and when we have the ok from the state to reopen to offer energy massages again, I will! There were a few detours this year to care for the family, so it wasn’t possible to keep our practice consistent.

For those that have young kids or even teens that are interested in learning easy ways to get into meditation practices, and have better coping mechanisms, please get in touch with me. I have been offering a Mindfulness and Meditation class for kids (6-10 years old)-Finding the Magic Within- Tuesdays at 4 pm (Pacific Time).

I wish lots of love, peace and happiness to you and your loved ones.

Happy Holidays!

REOPENING

This past Friday Governor Gavin Newson announced that massage is now allowed to occur indoors with modifications in EVERY county in California!

I am looking forward to a safe, easy and mindful return next week (1st week of November).

I intend to work with you, respecting the new guidelines and protocols for everybody’s safety. At the beginning of November I will take just a few clients per week (no more than 2/day and will be open 3 days/week).

While I still use Schedulicity to schedule sessions, I will ask you to communicate with me directly on my cell (805)728-5573 to schedule your appointment. The sessions will be no longer than 90mins and I will need to do an intake over the phone the day before your session is scheduled. After 7 months of having my practice completely closed and being able to open slowly now, all the sessions will have an increase of 10% in its value. Payments, for now, will be only taken in cash or Venmo. I appreciate your understanding during this time and I promise you: our exchange of energies will be worth it!

During this pandemic, I was incredibly blessed to have completed my certification in Advanced Qigong Healing (Spring Forest QiGong) and TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique) both absolutely powerful for energy healing, healing past and current traumas, soul retrieval, and a general well being and balanced flow of energy.

Here I am guiding Gabe, my oldest son through a TAT session

Playing with an Ocean Drum at home…it is almost like being by the ocean 🙂

My new training will allow me to offer you healing sessions without touch and with immediate results in the flow of energy. Believe me, it is true! I am not the doer, I am the vessel.

For those of you that are struggling with anxiety, insomnia, uncontrollable fear, anger, or anything resulting from trauma or from the current situation in the world, these healings are for you! If you don’t feel comfortable yet to receive a massage, these healings are for you! If you just would like to feel your energy more balanced to experience better health, these healings are also for you!

My Qigong Classes (virtual, via zoom) and Sound Baths should also return next week. The children’s classes continue on Tuesdays at 4:00 pm and Thursdays at 4:30 pm (Finding the Magic Within- children 6-10yrs old), you can contact me directly for more info and to register.

A snippet of a sound bath session

I will do my best to add to my website all these new classes, appointments, and added healing sessions soon.

There will be more communication this week, but I wanted to make sure of the announcement of the reopening of Corpo e Alma Healing.

Much love, much health, lots of peace and hope

Collective Grief Requires Collective Healing

This past Sunday (January 26th) was a very special day for my family. It would be my nephew’s Leonardo’s  32nd birthday.  It was day of remembrance for us. And just like that our community was deeply shaken by the tragic accident that took the lives of 9 people, amongst them a well known and beloved member of our Los Angeles community, Kobe Bryant.  It was a collective sorrow and pain that can still be felt around us now. A heavy and dense energy of grief ( so familiar to many, magnified by millions of people feeling it at the same time). It can be a very difficult veil of energy to move if we do not have tools to cope. Collective Healing is so much needed now.

Leo (age 12) with his biggest fan, my oldest son Gabe (age 6 1/2)

The intention with the post is not to talk about my past pain and grief, but to share how energy work helped me heal and how it can help us heal. Energy work can help our community to connect with each other in a deeper level and heal together.

Leonardo passed away almost 15 years ago at the age of 17 for brain cancer. When somebody says “nothing can prepare you for that” he or she might be right.  It seems that life, as we know it,  with endless distractions, with material possessions and entertainment, prepares us very little for its real meaning,  significance and ephemerality. Spirit is always in command ( however you want to call It) and distancing ourselves from this Divine Light can cost us deep, profound and lasting suffering.

My family’s life was changed forever on  May  1st, 2005. The world stopped for a while for my family and yet people around us insisted in living, in rejoicing with life’s blessings. I am so very grateful they did. At that time I didn’t know that the vibration of love, laughter and joy of those around us, were actually uplifting us, elevating us and allowing us to heal.

That is the power of the matrix of energy we are ALL connected to!

“Cords are like sticky ropes of mental/emotional energy that keep you “tied into” someone else. We can cord into anyone and anything, but the strength of the cord depends on the amount of time/energy/emotion we put into thinking about that thing.

We can cord into ideas, places and things as well. These cordings can be quite thin or temporary depending on the amount of energy we expel thinking about them.”

The Ties That Bind: Understanding Energy Cords

My life’s work has been a call  during a time of almost unbearable pain and grief I had experienced. You see, all my life dance has been a part of my daily routine. I love music, I love dancing.  I have to say that one of the greatest blessings from my culture that I carry so close to my heart is our music, the beat and rhythm of samba (“Drums represent the beat of the heart, the beat of the Earth Not surprisingly, they have been used by many ancient cultures in their healing ceremonies” – Song of the Spine by Dr. June Leslie Wieder.). I used to wake up my kids with music and used to dance while cooking. That’s how my older kids remembered me until Leonardo got sick…then I stopped doing everything and anything that could possibly bring me joy and connect me with Spirit. Crying was a new common thing for my daily routine.

My Divine Call came through on the day that my daughter Georgia ( at that time she was just 8 years old) crying said to me “I want my mom back!”.

Such powerful words that required from me immediate action. Those words echoed deeply in my heart and my whole being. There I was raising three kids (the youngest was a little over 2 years of age) and completely absent at every and each moment with them, to the continuity of life.

I soon started taking yoga and energy work classes, since the meditation, that I was so familiar with from very early age, wasn’t enough for me at that particular situation in my life. After I started my practice my body and my emotions slowly started to dance in harmony. As I felt my grief without paralyzing my being,  I could help my own children in the process. Life was intense for our family after that event with the loss of another chid in the family.  Spirit kept guiding and uplifting us as much as we allowed the messages to come through(and acted upon them).

When we work with energy,  we become very familiar with the effects of its stagnation or excess in the physical body. We can feel it, we can play with it, we can move it,  we can cut it so the path ahead is clearer ( not always an easy work, but so important). It is a process that requires our commitment and patience and of course support of family, friends and community. That is why a community that heals together is a strong community.

I have been humbled in my path by the stories of many of my clients. Paths of courage, determination and faith, despite their sorrow and pain.

At home, I am raising with my husband my stepsons (ages 13 and 17) who have tragically lost their mom years ago. Having tools to cope is of such enormous importance. Not everyone will accept the tools we have to share, in that case a good prayer direct from the heart can do miracles.

If you feel very affected by the energies around us at this moment, at our studio we offer twice a week (Tue & Thu, 6-7pm), Qigong and meditation classes that when done in a group, magnify the healing energy. You are welcome to join us. Old wounds and unhealed emotions can be triggered and opened at this time, make sure to honor and love them now, so you can heal.

This coming month of February I will be adding a new class to open up more deeply the meridians of the body (through Brazilian and Latin music), with some stretches , Qigong and sound bath. It is a very powerful class to release old energies, to accumulate new and refreshed energy  so you feel renewed. You will feel deeply connected to Spirit, to your heart.

Much love and gratitude,

Maria Helena Anderson

Happy Holidays!

I wish you and your family a peaceful holiday season!

May you all be blessed by the Divine light that lives inside and all around us.

I hope you can have a great time in the company of your family and loved ones. If it is a time when you feel lonely and not as cheerful and joyful, know that you are not alone. Reach out for help and remember the tools collected along your path that can help you uplift your mood at this time of the year: a walk in nature, some QiGong (playing with the energy ball and merging it into your heart is a great way to generate love and peace), yoga stretches (bow pose, tree pose, lifting up both legs against the wall are some examples) and meditation might bring you more peace and balance .

Essential oils are wonderful allies to uplift your mood if you feel that a boost is needed.  Below are some diffuser blends that are good for this time of year. You can be creative and make your own mix, just remember to use caution if you intend to use oils directly on your skin.

3 drops of Frankincense + 2 drops of orange + 2 drops of Peppermint

3 drops of Eucalyptus + 2 drops of Peppermint + 2 drops of Rosemary

3 drops Frankincense+ 2 drops Cinnamon Bark + 2 drops Orange

2 drops Orange + 2 drops Eucalyptus + 2 drops Peppermint (great mood boost)

2 drops Bergamot + 2 drops Orange + 2 drops Lemon

2019 has been a year of opportunities and expansion to my practice and I embraced it all.  A small room practice became a studio, and together we can now offer so much more to our community. There were Qigong and meditation classes for adults and teens, Kundalini yoga workshops led by Petra, a very experienced yogi , Vinyasa flow yoga ( a unique class that added the angelic singing voice of opera singer, Allie, to the long and transcendental  savasana) and we started showing documentaries at the studio. Of course, I kept my private sessions and continue to add new skills in energy and sound healing.

I appreciate your continuous support, trust in my work, and dedication to your own personal spiritual growth and healing path, whatever that might mean to you. Certainly together we magnify the good in each one of us. Every time one of us heals a particular area of our lives, our family heals, our community heals, together. While it can be confusing to understand the matrix of energy we all live in, as energy beings we can no longer deny the reality of vibration and its importance in our lives.

I will be sending out the new schedule for the month of January soon. The focus on the first month of the year will be  Qigong, meditation classes, and sound healing.  We will take a break from yoga classes at the beginning of the year and will resume classes in the spring.

Happy Holidays and I wish you a wonderful 2020!

Maria Helena

Gratitude and Love – A Bow to Life

I have been teaching the 5 Element Healing Movements from Spring Forest QiGong for the past couple of months. This is an amazing practice that, if you are really committed, can bring you amazing benefits for your health and well-being. It is truly a bow to life.

For those of you unfamiliar with QiGong practice, QiGong is an ancient Chinese practice of movements of the body and controlled breathing with the intention of moving the life force (Qi- pronounced “chee”) or prana inside the meridians of the body. The meridians are channels that run along the body; they are the energy network where energy flows.

If you have ever had an acupuncture treatment, you probably know that the goal of the session is to unblock energy channels. Our thoughts, the food we eat, the air we breathe, our environment, the way we relate to people can all play a role in blocking these energy channels. When energy is blocked, we can manifest in the physical body symptoms of pain and illnesses.

The last movement of the 5 Element Healing Movements is my favorite. It is a movement where we gently bow repeatedly while invoking the energy of gratitude. Our hands are pressed against each other in prayer pose (this stimulates the heart and lung’s energies). During 5 minutes we can bring into our minds and energy fields all the reasons to be thankful: the fresh water we drink, the good food we eat, our family, our friends, the roof over our heads.

I have written this before in previous blogs: as energy beings, we cannot expand if our hearts are not open. The wounded heart learns to shield itself for protection, blocking the natural flow of energy within the whole body.

Did you know that the heart is said to emit an electromagnetic field 5000 times stronger that of the brain? Can you imagine what we can do with this information? It means that the more our hearts open, the more we love, the more we can help ourselves heal and also those around us.

From my experience in my practice, and in life, I believe it is through the heart we make peace with ourselves and with the world around us.

Several years ago a client of mine shared a beautiful experience she had. My client was a social worker for patients in hospice care. At that time one of her patients was on the verge of crossing over; however, for some reason, it was taking a long time to let go. One night my client used lavender essential oil and massaged her arms and hands, while she  thanked her for all the good she imagined she had done–the meals she might have cooked, the diapers she might have changed. The next morning the patient passed away with tranquility and apparently at peace. This story moved me deeply, and it still moves me when I remember it.

So, during this month of November when we celebrate Thanksgiving, let’s remember all the blessings that are already present in our lives, so our hearts can open even more. That will help the healing of our physical body and enhance the body, mind, and spirit connection .

I have found a place deep in my heart, my happy place, my peaceful place, my recharging place and the most grounded part of me: my home. A well of joy that can spring at any time (for no apparent reason), I gather the courage to take the journey, despite the difficulties caused by the circumstances that surround me at any given moment. My home has helped me to not stray from my path. It is my North Star.

I encourage you all to keep taking the journey within, the journey that leads you to your heart, and experience the explosion of light and love you can create for yourself and your loved ones, wherever you go.

I am grateful for you and for the trust you place in my work so together we can make this journey a little easier and a little more gentle.

I bow to you, I bow to your life.

Much love and gratitude,

Maria Helena Anderson
