Happy Thanksgiving!

When my family and I  moved  from Brazil to the US,  21 years ago, I didn’t understand quite well the importance of the Thanksgiving holiday to the American culture.

In the first years my family was invited to join our friends’s families to share the meal and simply be together. The holiday started to grown on me, not exactly by the history of it, but for what it meant to the families here in our country.

I remember the feeling of joy and happiness during the gatherings. Some of our friends were  involved in volunteering to serve meals to those that were going through difficult times, many homeless.

It dawned on me that even though each one of us certainly has so much to be grateful for, there are times in our lives when trials happen (or are in motion) around the holiday celebration. So, for those of us that can celebrate fully the holidays in gratitude and love, it is important to pass on the light, be it in a thought form, a written message, a warm hug  or a prayer.

Those around us and those that we come in contact with will benefit from our positive energies and might be able to find just the strength and courage they need at that moment.

The sharing of the good in our lives has been to me a constant source of inspiration,  a way of living.

Wherever you are in your life at this moment know that you can be the receiver of the vibrations emanated from happy and grateful gatherings or you can be the giver. The  “feeling good” energy  will travel, will ripple  and find just the right hearts to uplift, to comfort and to love.

I have been in both ends…the receiver and the giver and am certain this may be true to many of us. I thank those that held a space of love and gratitude for me and my family when we needed the most and wholehearted today I share  the blessings received  to all out there in need of this love and light.

Gratitude and Love – A Bow to Life

I have been teaching the 5 Element Healing Movements from Spring Forest QiGong for the past couple of months. This is an amazing practice that, if you are really committed, can bring you amazing benefits for your health and well-being. It is truly a bow to life.

For those of you unfamiliar with QiGong practice, QiGong is an ancient Chinese practice of movements of the body and controlled breathing with the intention of moving the life force (Qi- pronounced “chee”) or prana inside the meridians of the body. The meridians are channels that run along the body; they are the energy network where energy flows.

If you have ever had an acupuncture treatment, you probably know that the goal of the session is to unblock energy channels. Our thoughts, the food we eat, the air we breathe, our environment, the way we relate to people can all play a role in blocking these energy channels. When energy is blocked, we can manifest in the physical body symptoms of pain and illnesses.

The last movement of the 5 Element Healing Movements is my favorite. It is a movement where we gently bow repeatedly while invoking the energy of gratitude. Our hands are pressed against each other in prayer pose (this stimulates the heart and lung’s energies). During 5 minutes we can bring into our minds and energy fields all the reasons to be thankful: the fresh water we drink, the good food we eat, our family, our friends, the roof over our heads. 

I have written this before in previous blogs: as energy beings, we cannot expand if our hearts are not open. The wounded heart learns to shield itself for protection, blocking the natural flow of energy within the whole body.

Did you know that the heart is said to emit an electromagnetic field 5000 times stronger that of the brain? Can you imagine what we can do with this information? It means that the more our hearts open, the more we love, the more we can help ourselves heal and also those around us.

From my experience in my practice, and in life, I believe it is through the heart we make peace with ourselves and with the world around us.

Several years ago a client of mine shared a beautiful experience she had. My client was a social worker for patients in hospice care. At that time one of her patients was on the verge of crossing over; however, for some reason, it was taking a long time to let go. One night my client used lavender essential oil and massaged her arms and hands, while she  thanked her for all the good she imagined she had done–the meals she might have cooked, the diapers she might have changed. The next morning the patient passed away with tranquility and apparently at peace. This story moved me deeply, and it still moves me when I remember it.

So, during this month of November when we celebrate Thanksgiving, let’s remember all the blessings that are already present in our lives, so our hearts can open even more. That will help the healing of our physical body and enhance the body, mind, and spirit connection .

I have found a place deep in my heart, my happy place, my peaceful place, my recharging place and the most grounded part of me: my home. A well of joy that can spring at any time (for no apparent reason), I gather the courage to take the journey, despite the difficulties caused by the circumstances that surround me at any given moment. My home has helped me to not stray from my path. It is my North Star.

I encourage you all to keep taking the journey within, the journey that leads you to your heart, and experience the explosion of light and love you can create for yourself and your loved ones, wherever you go.

When the World Has Gone Crazy

If the world has gone crazy, we don’t need to.
And there we are, all together, all(most of us) wanting the same: peace, happiness, love, abundance, health and joy…if all human beings can have that, safety is a given.
How can we keep ourselves grounded in our utmost values? How can we not sway in many directions contributing to the chaos around us?

We must remember who we are! We must rescue deep within our hearts our inner power and use it for good.

 I remember when after my training to be an energy healer, several years ago in Sedona, I came home fired up to share with my family, friends and with the world, all that I had learned about our energy body. I learned and experienced first hand the incredible power we all hold within ourselves. It was amazing! And I was just getting in touch with a tiny little part of this vast world of energy.

A couple years after my Sedona experience I started working as an energy healer at a Spa in Westlake Village, here in Southern California. I had the opportunity to have “disguised” as clients, some of my greatest teachers. A privilege and honor that I cherish until today, especially because at that time, my personal life was about to go through a long and painful period of great turmoil.

During my darkest and challenging times I was rescued and supported by all those that were embodying love. Especially my yoga masters, that literally fed me, treated my vulnerable emotional and physical bodies, loved me unconditionally and pushed me to train more, to be stronger, to be in silence, to not duel in my past, to focus all my energy in each and every moment I was living, to act out of wisdom and love. One of the most important lessons I have learned is: if I want to experience true power, I have to open my heart to love, to love myself unconditionally so I can love others.

A little story(real one) to illustrate it:

One of my clients/teacher was a ballerina. Her feet were very hurt, so was her heart. She was struggling with her divorce and the fact that her children had chosen to stay with their father. Her anger was great and I could feel it intensely. She wasn’t dancing much at that time, even though dancing was her passion. She was mostly trying to regroup and find peace within.

After a few weeks as I walked by the resting area in the spa I spotted my client. Her face, her body and her whole being were different. Everything was glowing, being in her presence felt wonderful. I said ” You look great! Where are you coming from?”. Smiling she said ” I was dancing!”.

Oh my! She was dancing! And all of the sudden the whole space in and around her vibrated love, simply because she loves dancing. I never saw that client again, but I do hope she kept dancing as much as possible so she could find the answers she was looking for. By doing so, she would elevate not only herself, but all those around her.

           And that’s the way we can go about in a world that has gone crazy!

Sometimes we may feel discouraged, we may feel that it is hard to keep up the optimism, the positivity and the hope. If that is the case, let’s make a simple list of coping tools that can be used:  a silent walk in nature is very healing, speaking our truth lightens up the heart, standing up for what we believe in is liberating and lifts  our spirits, giving a donation or volunteering. You can think of many little things that might have helped you in the past and add to your list.

Receive a massage so you can push the pause button of your mind, at least momentarily, increase dopamine and serotonin(our happy, feel good hormones) and  show up for the Earth. Together we can magnify the love our loving Mother needs so desperately now, so she can survive.

Healing Wounds in the Heart for Expansion of the Soul


As energy beings, we cannot expand if our hearts are not open. The wounded heart learns to shield itself for protection blocking the natural flow of energy within the body.

Several years ago I  went to Sedona, in Arizona, to be part of an Energy Healing training program. The journey for my personal healing started there.

During the training I became aware of the wounds in my heart. Those wounds were causing havoc to my emotional and physical health and well being. My soul wanted to fly, however the weight within was holding me back.

The path for the self healing  journey leads us directly to our hearts. There we will find our true power and the most powerful medicine there is…LOVE.

The secret to tap into such a well of goodness and miraculous healing within ourselves is through awareness and energy work. It’s in the energy body where we find the imprints of past traumatic experiences that have left in us a strong emotional charge. The emotional baggage, when not addressed and healed,  can manifest on the physical ( and mental) body in the form or various illnesses.

Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong and Meditation are some active forms of healing that can help to free the heart from emotional pain. Massage, Acupuncture and Energy Healing also have a great impact to open the heart center in the body to the free flow of energy and love we are all meant to experience while in the physical body.

Before our souls take on another journey on other dimensions out of these physical bodies, let’s make sure we do everything possible to release ourselves and our planet from what binds us to suffering so we all can soar, feeling love, becoming LOVE.
